The announcement poster is vague and doesn’t contain any information about the phone’s hardware or feature. What is does announce, however, is that Xiaomi will be officially pulling back the curtain on the phone on 30 July, which is the end of this month. While nothing has been confirmed, there is speculation that the phone will be sporting Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 855+ SoC. It makes sense, especially when you consider how pointless it would be for the brand to simply release an “updated” variant of its gaming phone with the same chipset.
Beyond that, no additional information about the phone’s remaining hardware exists. The original Black Shark 2 first came on to the scene earlier this year. The phone runs on the Snapdragon 855 SoC, and is sold in either 8GB/128GB or 12GB/256GB. It also came with 27W fast charging, and a 6.39-inch OLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Xiaomi isn’t the only brand that is prepping a high-end smartphone with the new Snapdragon 855+ chipset. Earlier this week, it was reported that ASUS will be launching the ROG Phone 2, and that the phone will be running on the new premium chipset as well.
