That said, the change of platform actually matters little for gamers; regardless of the distributor, the game will still only be playable via Ubisoft’s own Uplay platform Original story below: Ubisoft’s officially lifted the lid off its next Ghost Recon title hours ago. The official name of the sequel is Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and the game looks like it’s going to be more brutal than the last. The game puts you in the shoes of the Ghost operative, Nomad. The original Ghost from Ghost Recon Wildlands. For context, Breakpoint seems to pick up some time after the events that happen in the recently released DLC for Wildlands, Operation Oracle. As seen in the trailer, Nomad and his team are sent to the fictional island of Aurora; the home of Skell Technology and its founder, Jace Skell. For context, Skell Technology is responsible for advancing the game world’s development of drone technology. Because of this advanced drone technology, this has led to a rogue group of special operatives – known in-game as the “Wolves” – performing a hostile takeover of the island. Under the leadership of a Major Cole Walker (played by Jon Bernthal), a man who is revealed at the end of the trailer to be a former Ghost operative as well. In order to take the story and immersion level for Breakpoint a step further, Ubisoft is bringing on Emil Daubon, who is also penning the game’s story. Daubon himself is a former special forces operative, having served 14 years with the US Army’s Special Forces Green Beret.

Daubon explains that in Breakpoint, the dynamics have shifted for Nomad and his Ghosts; instead of being the hunter, they are now the prey. In addition, the game will now subject players to physical limitations, such as stress, fatigue, hunger, dehydration, and firearm injuries. Which can affect the character’s combat effectiveness. Ghost Recon Breakpoint is slated for release on 4 October 2019. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One. In regards to the PC release, here’s to hoping that Ubisoft won’t make it an Epic Games Store exclusive. (Source: Ubisoft via YouTube, PCGamer)
