This is because, unlike most phones of today, it features a 6.5-inch, 21:9 ratio display. It isn’t just your run-of-the-mill display either; the Sony Xperia 1 comes with a 4K HDR OLED display. And while it still keeps the bezel at the top, it does – at the very least – means that the display is notch-free. Another departure from the Xperia norm is the new multi-camera setup at the back of the phone. Instead of the single 19MP Motion Eye camera sensor Sony has used for the last three generations. The Xperia 1 now sports three 12MP cameras; one with a 26mm wide lens, a 52mm telephoto lens, and a 16mm superwide lens. Additionally, the first two also comes with optical image stabilisation (OIS). Other items in its spec sheet include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB RAM, 128GB of expandable storage (up to 512GB via microSDXC), an IP68 rating, a 3300mAh battery, and its side-mounted fingerprint sensor. There’s also support for Side Sense that allows you to access apps. Literally by tapping on the side of the phone.
The Sony Xperia 1 will be available by June, and in four colours – Black, White, Purple and Grey. As of yet, the company as not revealed any details on price, and it may be a while more before we know if the Xperia 1 will be available on our shores. (Source: Sony [1], [2], [3], )
