As implied by its name, the new Philips TV (model number 65PML9506/68) sports a large 65-inch 4K UHD (3840 x 2160 px) 120Hz display with Mini LED technology which features over a thousand intelligent backlight zones to enable sharp contrast, depth, deeper blacks and vibrant colours. The television itself boasts premium materials such as polished metal edges with brushed metal bezel, and includes a soft, textured leather-backed remote control. It also comes with the brand’s 4-sided Ambilight feature, which emits an “immersive glow” around the TV that responds to scenes that are shown on-screen. Internally, it is equipped with the brand’s P5 quad-core processor to run its onboard Android TV OS and applications, as well as AI-based functions. In regards to the latter, Philips says the TV features a deep-learning AI algorithm that “processes images in a manner similar to the human brain,” enabling for “lifelike detail, contrast, rich colour and smooth motion.” In addition, there’s Dolby Vision support for an enhanced, cinematic HDR experience. With HDMI 2.1 connectivity, the Philips 65-inch Mini LED TV can automatically switch to an ultra-low-latency setting when you start playing a game on your console. Still on the subject of gaming, also onboard are variable refresh rate (VRR) and Freesync support which allows for smooth fast-action gameplay. Audio-wise, the new TV comes with Dolby Atmos support and DTS Play-Fi that lets you connect to numerous compatible wireless speakers for a multi-room audio experience. Besides that, it features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, four HDMI and three USB ports, pre-installed Android TV apps (streaming services, etc), as well as Google Assistant and voice recognition support via the included remote control.
