The first indication, or hint if you will, starts at the 2:28 mark of the video, where a technical illustration about a graphics cards’ airflow is being explained. What is both interesting and important to note is the shape and direction of air flowing through the CAD mockup of the card. If anything, the air flow hints at the alternating dual-fan setup that we’ve seen sprouting up online over the last several months. In fact, the only detail we were missing at that time was just how the cooler’s airflow would function. The second clue to the final design of NVIDIA’s new cooler shroud can be seen at the very end of the video. It’s only appears for a split second, but pause it at the exact moment, and the image seen undoubtedly matches the shape and heatsink design that, again, have been floating around online.
But above all else, the technical video officially confirms NVIDIA’s choice to switch from using the standard 8-pin PCIe connector ports to a new and compact 12-pin PCIe connector port. Citing that the reason for this change was so that the card could be fed more power without compromising the integrity of the card’s PCB.
Besides those little snippets and talking about thermals, the video doesn’t reveal anything else. Unsurprisingly, it’s clear that NVIDIA will be bare it all come 1 September. (Source: NVIDIA)
