Starting off with the RTX 2060 Gaming Z, this graphics card features a dual TORX 3.0 fan setup, which in turn is based on the brand’s new Twin Frozr 7 cooling solution. In terms of aesthetics, fans of MSI’s graphics cards will recognise the cooler shroud’s angular design. The main difference with the Twin Frozr 7 design being its carbon fibre and matte grey colour scheme. Specs-wise, the card has a boost clockspeed of 1830MHz, and requires a single 8-pin PCIe connector to power it up. Output is settled via three DisplayPort 1.4 ports, and one HDMI 2.0b port. Surprisingly, MSI has chosen to remove the dual-link DVI port that NVIDIA had included in its Founders Edition RTX 2060. And yes, the card does come equipped with RGB LEDs.
On the other end of the spectrum, MSI also showcased the RTX 2060 Ventus OC. The Ventus OC features a slightly lower boost clockspeed at 1710MHz, but comes with the same number of ports and port configuration. The card’s cooler shroud is also less sleek than the Gaming Z, and is also less pronounced. On that note, the cooling solution on the Ventus OC is based on MSI’s TORX Fan 2.0, rather than TORX 3.0. Regardless of the configuration, both MSI RTX 2060 graphics cards are based on NVIDIA’s Turing GPU architecture, and feature the same 6GB GDDR6 across the board, as well as the same 14Gbps graphics VRAM speeds.
Both the RTX 2060 Gaming Z and Ventus OC are expected to be available after 15 January. The Gaming Z has been listed on the MSI Malaysia’s official page, which is a bit of a surprise because for the last several years, MSI would only distribute a Gaming X variant of their cards to our region. Whatever the arrangement is, we definitely can’t wait to get our hands on the cards and test them out.
