To refresh your memory, the FreeBuds Pro 2 feature an almost unibody design with rectangular stems that act as the touch-based control pad that covers music playback and phone calls as well as to cycle between the active noise cancellation (ANC) and awareness modes. The stems can also be used for volume control by up and down swiping gestures.
The earbuds are equipped with 11mm dynamic drivers and a planar diaphragm with support for the high-resolution LDAC codec. As for water and dust resistance, they come with an IP54 rating but this does not cover the charging case, only the earbuds themselves. The highlight of the FreeBuds Pro 2 is the upgraded ANC, which Huawei claims can suppress background noise up to 47db and can automatically switch the noise cancellation level in real-time based on your environment. Additionally, they employ a bone conduction microphone that has been paired with AI to focus on your voice and drown out noise during calls.
The battery life remains roughly the same as the original FreeBuds Pro, lasting 6.5 hours on a single charge without ANC and four hours with the ANC turned on. The charging case provides the earbuds with a total usage time of up to 30 hours, with support for 2W wireless charging. With Bluetooth 5.2, the device can also connect with two devices simultaneously. Retailing at RM899, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2 come in Silver Blue, Ceramic White, and Silver Frost. They can be purchased through the company’s website, Shopee store, and Lazada store as well as Huawei Experience Stores throughout the country. Early adopters will be provided with a protective case alongside a 3-month subscription to the Huawei Music Premium service. There is also an RM100 voucher for the earbuds that can be found in the MyHuawei app, which is valid until 11 September.
