GSMA, the organisers of MWC, had released a statement earlier this week assuring that the event will proceed as planned despite companies such as Sony, Intel, NVIDIA and Facebook pulling out. Contrary to their statement, Spanish news agency La Vanguardia reports that the organisers are said to hold a meeting on 14 February to decide if MWC 2020 should go on. It won’t be the first time that a major event faces the risk of cancellation or postponement due to the outbreak. As previously reported, Taiwan’s annual video game showcase Taipei Game Show has been postponed to summer this year. The event was originally scheduled to be held on 6 February 2020. While it has been confirmed that over a dozen companies have withdrawn their participation, GSMA states that event still has an attendance of 2,800 exhibitors from across the globe. Regardless, it’ll only be a couple more days more until we find out about the organiser’s decision and the fate of MWC 2020. (Source: La Vanguardia via Android Authority.)
