As per earlier reports, both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset; Google’s choice of the chipset is a little surprising, especially many among us were expecting the company to actually go with its slightly more powerful Snapdragon 855+. That said, the Snapdragon 855 is no slouch. On top of that, it’s also equipped with a Pixel Neural Core engine for on-device processing.
Moving on, both the phones comes with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM, displays with a 90Hz refresh rate, plus a Soli-Motion Sensing Radar built into the thick top bezel of the devices. For both the phones’ Hand Gestures and Face Unlock features. On the subject of display size, the Pixel 4 will have a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display, while the Pixel 4 XL’s measures in at 6.3-inches and a higher QHD+ resolution. Battery-wise, the Pixel 4 will house a 2800mAh while the Pixel 4 XL is fitted with a beefier 3700mAh. Regarding storage, both devices will be available in two configurations: 64GB and 128GB.
Another major highlight of the new Pixel 4 is its main dual-camera module at the back. Specifically, the module houses a 16MP f/2.4, 1.0 μm telephoto, along with a 12.2MP f/1.7, 1.4 μm sensor with PDAF. On another note, both sensors are equipped with optical and electronic image stabilisation. Around the front, both Pixel 4 devices house a single 8MP f/2.0 1.22 μm sensor.
In addition to the extra camera sensor, the Pixel 4’s camera software also sports some pretty significant improvements, as well as introduce some new features. These include the Live HDR+, Dual Exposure Controls, and improvements to White Balancing, Portrait Mode, and Night Sight.
The Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will be available globally from 24 October onwards. Price-wise, the Pixel 4 retails for US$799 (~RM3348) while the Pixel 4 XL is priced at US$899 (~RM3767).
