As you may have guessed, the chief reason behind the cancellation of Google’s event is due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak. That has affected companies and event around the world. “In accordance with health guidance from the CDC, WHO, and other health authorities, we have decided to cancel the physical Google I/O event at Shoreline Amphitheatre,” Google had said in a statement to The Verge. To say that Coronavirus concerns have wreaked havoc on the world of tech is not an understatement. To date, the virus that originated from Wuhan, China, has forced the cancellation of this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) and Facebook’s F8 developer conference, among many others.

Some events, such as this year’s Game Developer Conference (GDC) have been delayed instead of cancelled, while other companies such as NVIDIA have opted to soldier on with its annual GPU Technology Conference (GTC) by cancelling the live event. Opting to livestream its keynote from a safe and sterile environment instead. (Source: The Verge)
