According to the developer blog, users will be able to command Assistant by voice to read out web pages aloud. A handy feature if users are currently occupied with other tasks such as driving, or have difficulties reading certain text. In order to keep track of the reading progress, Google Assistant will highlight text that is currently being read out. Additionally, users can also adjust its reading pace to be faster or slower according preference. Tapping on the screen will have it skip to a different section. To activate the feature, simply say “Hey Google, read it” or “Hey Google, read this page”. Furthermore, Google Assistant could also read web pages in 42 languages, as well as translating it aloud in a desired language. As mentioned earlier, this new update is currently being rolled out globally and may already be available on some devices. So make sure you check back regularly to see if it has been implemented on yours.
