For Instance, India is getting a dramatic discount from US$9.99 (~RM44) per month for the Mega Fan tier to just 99 rupees (~RM5.5) per month while the same plan now costs S$6.99 (~RM22) in Singapore. Of course, Malaysia is also seeing a massive price decrease for the subscriptions as we were also previously charged with US pricing.
Crunchyroll subscriptions now start at RM9 per month for the base Fan plan instead of US$7.99 (~RM35), which translates to a 74% reduction. The base plan is ad-free with access to digital manga and new anime episodes one hour after they air in Japan. It is limited to being streamed on only one device at a time with no offline viewing. Next up is the monthly Mega Fan tier which is priced at RM11 per month instead of US$9.99. With this plan, users get all the perks of the base plan in addition to being able to stream on up to four devices at a time. Mega Fan also allows you to download and view shows offline. [Image: Crunchyroll]While we don’t have the Ultimate Fan tier which allows streaming on six devices concurrently and exclusive merchandise, die-hard members can opt for the 12-month plan of the Mega Fan tier. The yearly subscription costs RM110, which is a 16% discount on top of the newly-announced prices. At a time when everything is getting more expensive due to inflation, it’s refreshing to see a company actually provide more value to its customers. That being said, paying a Premium membership is now the only way for you to watch new shows on the platform, as earlier this year, Crunchyroll ended free ad-supported streaming for new and continuing anime.
