Naturally, for this project, Netflix is partnering with the game’s developer and publisher, 2K Games, and its parent company Take-Two Interactive. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film adaptation does not yet have a writer or filmmaker tied to it yet.

A previous attempt saw The Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski giving it a go, not too long after the first game’s initial release. But that attempt was left in limbo for a very long time before it was eventually scrapped. Assuming this attempt does go smoothly, the underwater city of Rapture does make for an interesting setting for a film.
