Designed by the architectural firm Foster + Partners who is a long-time collaborator with the company, Apple has officially released several photos that showed how its new store at MBS looks like inside. At the same time, there are also additional photos that depicted the final look of the outlet’s orb-like building which was previously covered in grey panels.
According to the company, the all-glass dome structure of Apple Store MBS is made from 114 pieces of glasses that are connected by 10 slim vertical mullions that allow the store to provide a 360-degrees view of the Marina Bay. Connected from the outside through an elevated walkway, the dome which was inspired by Rome’s Pantheon houses The Forum that will be hosting Today at Apple sessions for the MBS store. Alongside The Forum’s massive video display, there are also plenty of Apple products and trees neatly arranged all over the floor space. Visitors can also go to the lower part of the store via an escalator, curved stairway, and cylindrical elevator, where the underwater tunnel that connects Apple Store MBS and Marina Bay Sands’ main shopping area is located.
This tunnel not only provides additional display space for Apple products but it also contains the store’s Boardroom which is a private meeting space that also exists in many Apple Stores throughout the world. Apple Store MBS will be opened to visitors later this week starting from 10 September onwards although of course, Apple fans in Malaysia should wait until the travel restriction is lifted before rushing off to Singapore in order to check out the fifth Apple Store in Southeast Asia.
