The rumour first cropped up on Twitter and was posted in response by Yuko Yoshida (@KittyYYuko) to queries made to their initial tweet about Navi 31 and Navi 33. To provide context to this rumour, one simply needs to look at AMD’s current flagship RDNA2-powered graphics card, the Radeon RX 6900XT. Powered by a Navi 21 XTX GPU, the card houses 16GB GDDR6 graphics memory, 512GB of memory bandwidth, a 128MB Infinity Cache, but more importantly, 5120 Stream Processors.

As wild as these speculations are, Yoshida’s tweet is merely an echo of earlier rumours about Navi 31; prior to Yoshida, prominent leakster Kopite7kimi had also mentioned about the GPU housing the same number of Stream Processors and given their reputation, it wouldn’t be wrong to actually hold out a little hope that this rumour could be reality. On another note, there is also another rumour that AMD may be moving away from the use of Compute Units (CUs), in favour of Work Group Processors (WGPs) with RDNA3.
