The partnership between NVIDIA and Unity is interesting from several angles. For starters, and stating the obvious, adding ray-tracing to the Unity engine means that the game developer is now able to produce and render ultra high-resolution 3D objects. With an even greater depth of realism. More importantly, integrating and baking NVIDIA’s RTX technology into its game engine now give it an edge against its direct competitor; Epic Games’ Unreal Engine....

Europe has now agreed to a deal that will harmonise the charging port for 15 categories of small and medium-sized portable electronic devices by Autumn of 2024 — it will be in force 20 days after publication in the EU Official Journal after it is put to a formal vote this summer, with a grace period for compliance. This will include smartphones, laptops, keyboards, mice, portable navigation devices, tablets, e-readers, earbuds, digital cameras, headphones, handheld gaming consoles, and portable speakers....

Newell says that he teamed up with the people over at the aerospace manufacturer, Rocket Lab, in order to make sending his gnome – it’s actually a Half-Life icon that goes by the name of “Gnome Chompski” – out into the vastness of space. From its design, it seems Valve has taken some consideration in the Index’s design. The headset is still a tethered device, but only utilises a 5-metre cable that plugs directly in to the gaming rig and another that plugs into the headset’s base stations. Valve says that the Index is focused on delivering the “highest fidelity VR” experience possible. To that end, the RGB LCD displays inside the headset have a resolution of 1440 x 1600, but more importantly, they run at a refresh rate of 120Hz....

As mentioned earlier, there are 13 games available at any given time, but they’re not all live just yet. More games will be rolled out until the full roster is available in March 2019. Representatives have also said that beyond their full lineup, there will be more titles coming, with a shuffling of games happening every three months or so. According to WABetaInfo, the Facebook-owned messaging app has reportedly been developing the feature over the last couple of months, with the first reports having popped up back in July. When the app was reportedly testing some sort of cross-platform support. While this may not seem like groundbreaking news, bringing chat synchronisation to multiple devices and platform would still be a game-changer for WhatsApp and if this takes off, it could allow WhatsApp to further grow its userbase....

Honestly, I was a little apprehensive of the idea of a female Thor until I read Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic series that ran from 2015 to 2018. Built in collaboration with Honeywell and designed by Jose Fernandez, the Xupermask comes after the announcement of Razer’s Project Hazel and is obviously a challenger to it. At the heart of it, Xupermask is a face mask made with a silicon seal and an adjustable elastic strap. Additionally, the mask also has HEPA filters, combined with two three-speed fans – one on each side of the faceplate – that serve as both an air intake and exhaust....

A Microsoft USB blog post states that a bug in the USB-C Connector System Software Interface (UCSI) of Windows 10 version 1809 is behind this. The bug in question can not only cause up to a one minute delay in the shutdown process, but the sleep process as well. The bug doesn’t seem to affect any other aspect of your PC’s performance. Either way, Microsoft addressed the issue with Update 1903, also known as the May 2019 update....

At first glance, the design of the Mi Watch does look ironically similar to the Apple’s own Watch Series wearable. It sports a digital crown for smartwatch menu navigation and comes with a 1.78″ inches AMOLED display with the always-on feature. In terms of software, the Mi Watch runs on Xiaomi’s homegrown “MIUI For Watch” interface that, in turn, is based on Google’s Wear OS. Underneath the hood, the wearable runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC....

The plant will be built in two phases, with mass production of vehicles to begin in 2024. The tech giant will also build the headquarters of the auto unit, as well as the sales and research offices, in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. Xiaomi still hasn’t revealed any details of its debut models but announced back in March that it’s initially investing 10 billion yuan (~RM6.6 billion) and an additional US$10 billion (~RM42 billion) over ten years into its Electric Vehicle division....

As per our report, the Mi 8 Pro is indeed the Mi 8 Explorer Edition that was launched in China on May this year as opposed to this similarly named variant that was released in China a few months later. Hence, we are looking at not only a Mi 8 with a transparent body but also with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The new phone will be made available for RM 2399 at Authorized Mi Store throughout Malaysia starting from tomorrow onwards....

The brand recently made a post on its official MIUI page, stating that it was working alongside Google and Qualcomm to come up with a fix for the missing Windvine L1 DRM. And that it would try to release a beta for the Pocophone F1 before the end of year. It still remains to be seen how Xiaomi intends to implement the fix by asking users to send their Pocophone F1 to an official Xiaomi store to physically update the devices, or if the brand will be issuing it via an OTA update....

The announcement poster is vague and doesn’t contain any information about the phone’s hardware or feature. What is does announce, however, is that Xiaomi will be officially pulling back the curtain on the phone on 30 July, which is the end of this month. While nothing has been confirmed, there is speculation that the phone will be sporting Qualcomm’s recently announced Snapdragon 855+ SoC. It makes sense, especially when you consider how pointless it would be for the brand to simply release an “updated” variant of its gaming phone with the same chipset....

On the face of it, the company’s smart glasses works just about as you’d expect. As Xiaomi describes it, the company’s smart glasses uses MicroLED for its display, which is claimed to be longer lasting and has higher pixel density than OLED. It also works in quite the non-conventional way. Rather than just projecting an image in front of your eye, this pair of smart glasses uses a neat combination of reflection and refraction to direct images to the wearer’s eye, all with a single lens....

The Chinese tech giant earlier today unveiled its own take on the tech in the form of the Mi Air Charge Technology. According to the description on the announcement that the company published on its Facebook and Twitter page, Xiaomi’s remote charging tech allows multiple devices to be charged at the same time. — Xiaomi (@Xiaomi) January 29, 2021 Xiaomi also claimed that users don’t have to stay put or let their device to be idle for it to happen....

The factory is owned by Great Wall Motor (GWM), China’s largest pickup truck maker, which will also provide engineering consultancy to accelerate the project, one source said. Earlier in the year, GWM launched a standalone brand for electric and smart vehicles. According to a source close to Reuters, Xiaomi wants to launch its first EV by 2023, which will predictably be able to connect with other devices in the company’s product ecosystem, such as its smartphones....
