Leading the list is the Mate 30 Pro 5G which was first released into our market back in February. Given the age of the phone, it is not surprising that Huawei has listed the phone as part of tomorrow’s festival sale. That being said, the discount is rather massive though, as the 5G-capable phone will be offered for RM 2699, equivalent to a RM 1500 reduction from its original price tag of RM 4199....
To recap, both the Mate 30 and mate 30 Pro are powered by Huawei’s new Kirin 990 chipset, 8GB RAM and a quad-camera main array. In regard to the last point, the Mate 30’s quad-camera module comprises a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide + 40MP f/1.8 SuperSensing wide + 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens with OIS + Laser focus. Additionally, the camera has a maximum ISO of 204800 and a 45X zooming range (3x Optical, 30x Digital)....
Earlier in May, the Trump administration approved measures to cut Huawei’s access to global chip suppliers. This had left the company uncertain about its HiSilicon semiconductor division’s ability to supply enough parts for the Mate 40’s mass production, such as the Kirin mobile processors, communication chips and AI accelerator chips. With the restriction from using any US-made equipment to manufacture chips, HiSilicon is finding it difficult to complete orders for the smartphone maker....

According to Hyundai Motor global chief operating officer Jose Munoz, the South Korean automaker will assign the development of the in-house chip to its affiliate, Hyundai Mobis. For those unfamiliar, the subsidiary company is responsible for manufacturing parts for Hyundai’s car production, such as front-end modules, electronic stability control, multimedia systems, and so on. At the time of writing, the i915 kernel patch lacks any information as to how it will support five displays at a time. At most, the screenshots found show that the fifth display output is labelled as “TC1”, suggesting that the port is intended to be a USB-C output port and more specifically, an alternative to the DisplayPort. What you’re looking at is a gaming laptop with not only two displays, but two hinges as well. While you can move the primary display as you would a conventional laptop. a second hinge allows the secondary display to leave the base of the laptop. Fast forward to today and word on the wire is that we could be looking at a discrete GPU with performance on par with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3070, if his recent tweet is anything to go by. Breaking it down, Koduri’s tweet shows two pictures from different time periods at Intel’s Folsom Lab. The takeaway here is the last bit of his tweet, where he proclaims that he is playing with a GPU that is approximately “20x faster” than a pre-production Crystal Well....

In case you missed our previous report, the iPhone 14 starts at RM4,199 for the base 128GB variant while the 256GB and 512GB can be obtained for RM4,699 and RM5,699, respectively. As a reference, last year’s iPhone 13 128GB was priced at RM3,899 at launch with the 256GB version going for RM4,399 and RM5,299 for the 512GB option. Hence, you are looking at a price difference of between RM300 to RM400....
